The Pharmacy Technician program is designed to meet the needs of individuals who are seeking work in the pharmacy or pharmaceutical industry. The students gain knowledge of pharmaceutical laws, insurance billing, and will be trained in calculations and compounding. The program also includes preparation for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) licensing examination, which is an optional certification.
Students learn supply distribution, pharmaceuticals, purchasing methods, inventory control methods, pharmacy terminology, insurance billing, payment collection, pharmacy calculations, federal and state regulations, pharmacy equipment and maintenance, pharmacy ethics, operating systems and effective communication skills. At the end of the program, students will be required to complete an externship.
